2019 has come in, and it marks our 9th year as a game server provider!

While this is may be just a number, it actually introduces a lot of changes to our infrastructure, new locations, changes to how we communicate with you (live status updates), as well as an overall improvement to our network with the aim to reduce the latency and of course increase DDoS Protection!

Let's start off with the upcoming changes to our infrastructure:

-- Network --
We are moving to INAP's network, which offers an advanced route optimization engine. This means that when the traffic is leaving our servers, it will make sure that the traffic goes through the best available path (path with lower latency). This should greatly improve the latency in-game for all players.

-- Hardware --
All of the new hardware will include a CPU that can boost up to 4GHz, 32GB of RAM as well as SSD drives only, to ensure fast read/write speeds. Of course all hardware is patched against Meltdown and Spectre!

-- DDoS Protection --
This year we are stepping up our protection, and we will be rolling out a more advanced way to filter incoming traffic to ensure that only legit traffic reaches your server. Stay tuned for more information!

In 2018, we realized that our existing server status page may not be the best page to include the stats of our systems. This year we will be introducing a custom page where we will include status for Game Servers, Teamspeak, Network, and our Enterprise platform hosted under each location.

We have also came to a conclusion to drop Buffalo as a location and replace it with New York, mostly because we can offer better routing and DDoS protection across that region and the latency difference is minimal.

Last but not least, we will unfortunately decommission the following locations as the interest for servers there has steadily deteriorated over the past few months:

  • Ashburn
  • Seattle
  • San Jose

That's not all! We have a lot of interesting partnerships coming up so stay tuned for more information on that and more!
